Three-Ring Leather Bit from Beris
Horses accept leather bits very well and almost all horses like the feeling of leather in their mouth and respond with increased saliva secretion, become relaxed, and start chewing on the bit. The anatomical shape is further improved when the mouthpiece becomes wet, as it then molds to the horse's mouth. Leather bits are suitable for young and very sensitive horses. Even horses that usually do not like having a bit in their mouth often accept this material. The leather is vegetable-tanned and hand-stitched.
NOTE: Before using a leather bit for the first time, soak it in cooking oil until the leather is fully saturated. This should be repeated when the leather starts to look dry. Remember to rinse the bit thoroughly after riding as saliva can shorten the lifespan of the leather.
Multi-ring bits introduce poll pressure and also create a certain leverage effect if you use a cheek chain/strap on the bit, without a chain/strap it instead creates a gag effect. How sharp an effect you want is influenced by which of the rings you attach the reins to. This bit is often used when you want to test if the horse is comfortable with bits with a leverage effect. It can be used with double reins or a delta rein.
